Paper: Gamification for Community-Based Heritage Work — A Case Study from Romania
Plural. History, Culture, Society, 12(2)
Abstract
The Romanian contribution to the Heritage Game special issue analyses two flagship initiatives — the Questo Game and the Climate Heritage Game — and shows how their game mechanics make heritage exploration informative, engaging and accessible to wider audiences.
Drawing on field observation and interviews with project stakeholders, the authors argue that gamification is a powerful instrument for promoting historical sites and narratives, fostering community interest in cultural heritage and turning learning into a shared, interactive experience that strengthens local identity.
