Abstract
This study explores how escape games can be used as immersive, inquiry-based learning environments in geography and environmental education. Reporting on a Czech case study designed within the Heritage Game project, the authors detail the pedagogical scaffolding behind the game, the integration of local cultural and geomorphological heritage, and the way puzzles bring fieldwork-style reasoning into the classroom.
Findings show that escape games increase learner engagement, support collaborative problem-solving and improve retention of place-based content, providing a transferable model for educators who want to combine gamification with environmental and heritage education.
