Paper: A Gamification Model for Community-Based Heritage Work: The Cases from Slovakia
Plural. History, Culture, Society, 12(2)
Abstract
This article presents the Slovak contribution to the Heritage Game model, analysing best-practice case studies from Handlová, Revúca and Bratislava. The authors document QR-coded urban quests, folklore-driven storytelling and street-level treasure hunts that blend education with entertainment ("edutainment") to engage residents of all ages.
The paper reflects on what makes these initiatives sustainable and replicable — strong local partnerships, light-weight technology, and stories that come from the communities themselves — and offers a gamification model that other Slovak (and European) heritage actors can adapt to their own settings.
